Renewable energy:-
What is renewable energy? Renewable energy is energy obtained
from totally natural resources i.e the sun, wind and sea although
you can argue quite rightly that there are more oppotunities
than these to farm energy.
The Government has a long term aim to reduce C02 emissions by
60% by 2050. 10% of the electricity supply must be from renewable
energy by 2010, so it is quite urgent for us all to explore
the oppotunites we have at home for making use of what are readily
available natural resources to us all. Take a quick look out
of your window at home and you will experience sun or wind or
rain - this is renewable energy, and it is your starting point
in the great solar challenge.
If you have a good budget then there are plenty of professional
companies who can fit a system to your property, either *on
grid or *off grid. On the other hand you may have a smallish
budget and wish to supplement your energy needs with a just
few panels to start with. Whichever way you go you will find
a good understanding of all the opportunities available on this
website and the links found within it's pages.
Explanation of terms:
*On Grid means you have
a system that produces enough power to be connected to the mains
electricity and are able to sell your overflow power to an electricity
company.
*Off grid is
a system not connected to the mains for that purpose.
